We Tend To Forget.

Mama never thought she was naming a hashtag,
Naming a victim,
Naming another cause for the march ,
She never thought she was naming a headline,
Naming a subject of a CNN discussion,
Mama never thought she was naming another name to the list,
Mama took her time to create,
A name to be place upon a Queen,
Not a name all over the news,
Another grave for black youth,
It’s a shame,
Things we must remember,
Pain isn’t just in our black men,
But also within our women,
Mama we know this wasn’t the she deserved,
I share your pain through these words.

The Message.

IMG_0968They want you in fear,
They kill black men to grab your attention,
They take away your fathers and brothers,
They find the root of your support system and kill it,
They want you to fear giving birth,
They destroy the minds of growing black men so they have nothing to offer,
They tie your black men to a system that forever follows them,
So even when your black man wants to change…he can’t,
They kill us to break your heart,
They want to give you the fear to never experience this again,
They hope you choose not to birth and raise another black man,
They know the only way to get rid of us is to get rid of you,
This is the message they’ll attempt to send you,
Black woman.

Numbers Lie?…

IMG_0940

If your argument is more whites are killed by police than blacks, I advise the white community to bring these situations to the light. To me that number means nothing, as humans we tend to know what we see and what we experience. You want us to believe you face the same issues we do? Show us and we’ll gladly fight for justice with you. White & Black hand in hand fighting for our rights. See when a black man is murdered by police we don’t see much frustration from the white community. We don’t see a white community that’s tired of the same issue. We see (not all) but plenty of the white community stand behind the police. When your emotions match the numbers maybe then that statistic may mean something … Until then #blacklivesmatter.

They call it the land of the free,
Just to tell you nothing’s free,
Tell you to chase your dreams,
While you running for somebody else’s.

The Bottom

“You’re never as low as you think”-Bas
It takes time and true understanding to learn that we create our own idea of “the bottom”. It starts internally with the things we tie our hearts to that brings us joy. When they aren’t working in ways we believe we need them we begin to feel hopeless. It’s almost like having tunnel vision towards your desires. Too many times to we limit ourselves & our happiness to the things we want instead of the things we need. The only bottom we have is the bottom we create for ourselves. Sometimes when we hit what we believe to be the bottom it’s the first step to raising to the mountain top.

The War (2010)

You call this the promise land, well then tell me man, why are people dying, why are bullets flying, why are the women crying, why are the babies dying, the truth in your face but you continue lying, why do our people quit before trying, why do we base, each other on race, instead of the person you are, fighting, instead of uniting as one, look at the world it’s almost done, and you don’t see that, thanks to Barack sky is the limit if you black, get off your ass and work excuses are wack, God gave us freewill, a heart to love, a spirit to heal, a mind to think, and the devil is around every time you blink, everything is messed up, the school systems, jobs, police, and the list goes on, our closest friends die and they tell us life goes on, no time to mourn, some people have nothing, Continue reading “The War (2010)”

Stand for what you believe in and watch the world go crazy. Show respect for what you love and be met by hatred. It’s true people fear what they don’t understand. Reading the comments and tweets all I see is ignorance and fear. As if BeyoncĂ© had just launched an attack against white people. Maybe we see it different…what I seen was someone paying homage and uplifting black culture during BLACK HISTORY MONTH. Only the guilty feel offended and threatened. Only the guilty run for cover when they see what was deemed weak unite. Without loading a single gun instead placing a fist in the air, created an unrest upon the guilty as If this was a call for war. I say the guilty because it isn’t all white people I’m so past seeing things as white and black. It’s the guilty, the people who fear equality. The people who believe the uprising of once race will be the downfall of another. That isn’t the case, the guilty don’t see the vision….We all no matter race or color can stand as one. Thanks you Queen for exposing the guilty.
