I Bit The Apple Too…(Excerpt)

image

I bit the apple too Eve
Though this time,
The serpent,
Sat in my palms,
Follows me everywhere
That is anywhere,
On this green earth,
Makes me forever take for granted,
My gifts that was handed since birth,
Now this plants roots tied,
To a device,
I like,
I like to write,
I like to type,
Which leads to tweets,
I forgot to eat,
This video was cool,
Watch the same vine 20 times,
Lost more than a couple minutes,
Didn’t even notice.
Today I’m motivated,
Grab my phone,
Open app after app,
Where’s my focus?….(To be continued)

We Tend To Forget.

blkwoman
Mama never thought she was naming a hashtag,
Naming a victim,
Naming another cause for the march ,
She never thought she was naming a headline,
Naming a subject of a CNN discussion,
Mama never thought she was naming another name to the list,
Mama took her time to create,
A name to be place upon a Queen,
Not a name all over the news,
Another grave for black youth,
It’s a shame,
Things we must remember,
Pain isn’t just in our black men,
But also within our women,
Mama we know this wasn’t the she deserved,
I share your pain through these words.

The Message.

IMG_0968They want you in fear,
They kill black men to grab your attention,
They take away your fathers and brothers,
They find the root of your support system and kill it,
They want you to fear giving birth,
They destroy the minds of growing black men so they have nothing to offer,
They tie your black men to a system that forever follows them,
So even when your black man wants to change…he can’t,
They kill us to break your heart,
They want to give you the fear to never experience this again,
They hope you choose not to birth and raise another black man,
They know the only way to get rid of us is to get rid of you,
This is the message they’ll attempt to send you,
Black woman.

Numbers Lie?…

IMG_0940

If your argument is more whites are killed by police than blacks, I advise the white community to bring these situations to the light. To me that number means nothing, as humans we tend to know what we see and what we experience. You want us to believe you face the same issues we do? Show us and we’ll gladly fight for justice with you. White & Black hand in hand fighting for our rights. See when a black man is murdered by police we don’t see much frustration from the white community. We don’t see a white community that’s tired of the same issue. We see (not all) but plenty of the white community stand behind the police. When your emotions match the numbers maybe then that statistic may mean something … Until then #blacklivesmatter.

Sun down,
The moment my life becomes a novelty,
A beacon of hope starts to dawn on me,
I could never tie myself to poverty,
Lost pride,
Then found the God in me,
Young man learned when to let the father speak, Continue reading “Sun Down.”

Just Another Nigga.

Something I could never be,
Born to leave a legacy,
Though I’m born into hell it seem,
This little light of mine I let it beam,
Refuse to be another nigga the world already seen,
Don’t need a screen to change the scene,
Change your path alter expectations,
Snakes hidden in the grasses waiting,

The Bottom

“You’re never as low as you think”-Bas
It takes time and true understanding to learn that we create our own idea of “the bottom”. It starts internally with the things we tie our hearts to that brings us joy. When they aren’t working in ways we believe we need them we begin to feel hopeless. It’s almost like having tunnel vision towards your desires. Too many times to we limit ourselves & our happiness to the things we want instead of the things we need. The only bottom we have is the bottom we create for ourselves. Sometimes when we hit what we believe to be the bottom it’s the first step to raising to the mountain top.
