The Message.

IMG_0968They want you in fear,
They kill black men to grab your attention,
They take away your fathers and brothers,
They find the root of your support system and kill it,
They want you to fear giving birth,
They destroy the minds of growing black men so they have nothing to offer,
They tie your black men to a system that forever follows them,
So even when your black man wants to change…he can’t,
They kill us to break your heart,
They want to give you the fear to never experience this again,
They hope you choose not to birth and raise another black man,
They know the only way to get rid of us is to get rid of you,
This is the message they’ll attempt to send you,
Black woman.

Numbers Lie?…

If your argument is more whites are killed by police than blacks, I advise the white community to bring these situations to the light. To me that number means nothing, as humans we tend to know what we see and what we experience. You want us to believe you face the same issues we do? Show us and we’ll gladly fight for justice with you. White & Black hand in hand fighting for our rights. See when a black man is murdered by police we don’t see much frustration from the white community. We don’t see a white community that’s tired of the same issue. We see (not all) but plenty of the white community stand behind the police. When your emotions match the numbers maybe then that statistic may mean something … Until then #blacklivesmatter.

Sun Down.

Sun down,
The moment my life becomes a novelty,
A beacon of hope starts to dawn on me,
I could never tie myself to poverty,
Lost pride,
Then found the God in me,
Young man learned when to let the father speak, Continue reading “Sun Down.”

Just Another Nigga.

Something I could never be,
Born to leave a legacy,
Though I’m born into hell it seem,
This little light of mine I let it beam,
Refuse to be another nigga the world already seen,
Don’t need a screen to change the scene,
Change your path alter expectations,
Snakes hidden in the grasses waiting,
See you fail they congratulating, Continue reading “Just Another Nigga.”

The Bottom

“You’re never as low as you think”-Bas
It takes time and true understanding to learn that we create our own idea of “the bottom”. It starts internally with the things we tie our hearts to that brings us joy. When they aren’t working in ways we believe we need them we begin to feel hopeless. It’s almost like having tunnel vision towards your desires. Too many times to we limit ourselves & our happiness to the things we want instead of the things we need. The only bottom we have is the bottom we create for ourselves. Sometimes when we hit what we believe to be the bottom it’s the first step to raising to the mountain top.

Somethings have to be said..

America, we can ruin countless young black lives & trap young black youth in the system. Yet show pity to the white youth. A topic I can expand on but before this Brock Turner situation is made about race. The victims here are women, a blatant slap in the face. How do you defend someone’s choice to forcefully take something ? A person’s choice to leave a woman with an event that may haunt them for the rest of their life. His fathers plea that it was only “20 minutes of action” is even more sicken. 20 minutes or 5 minutes rape is rape. For his father Dan Turner to even mention his sons depression is insensitive. No matter what Brock feels you can’t make him a victim. To look at this picture deeper it’s sad that this mentally exist in men. I’m tired of the “she was drunk”, “she wore revealing clothes”, no matter the case nothing entitles you to forcefully take anything from a woman. All it takes is self-control its sad something so simple seems as it’s hard to execute for some men. On top of that its a shame that certain court systems can really sympathize with the rapist. As a gender how far have we really advanced when we still have men that act like animals entitled to whatever they desire. The struggles we may face as men is nothing compared to this. I pray to one day be in a position to shed more light on these issues. As a man myself we can’t allow for these type of cases to continue to pile up as well as the situations that are never brought to the light. We as men have to do better & protect our women.

Black Man Get Tired.

Black man get tired,
He been running around all day,
Maybe about 300 plus years ,
Black man get tired,
Carrying his race, his case, and the kids,
Black man get tired,
Watching brothers & sisters sleep,
Refusing to wake up,
Black man get tired,
Everyday playing lottery trying to wish himself out of poverty,
Black man get tired,
He work everyday can he get a break?
He work everyday can he get a raise? Continue reading “Black Man Get Tired.”

God Is Love…

You’d look at me different if I called God Allah,
We pray for the same things,
If I pray once compared to your 3,
Where in the bible does that confirm your better than I,
When did this become a competition,
You wonder why many question religion,
You’d step on my neck to get closer to the most high, Continue reading “God Is Love…”

No More Black History Month!!!!!

Before I start, this piece was written way before Stacey Dash comments. After the backlash, I went back and edited this piece. When Discussing this topic the delivery will stand out more than the reason you have for the statement. If we dream of a world of true equality one day black history month will have to end. Not because we don’t deserve it or we will forget it. It will just eliminate the limitations on black history. Black success stretches out further than the shortest calendar month. Are we really that attached to a month that we believe it is a badge of power? Continue reading “No More Black History Month!!!!!”
